Every year I take the week before my birthday off work to clean my house as a gift to myself.
I know it sounds weird. And you probably would think it was the worst gift ever.
But I fucking LOVE IT.
I have been prepping for weeks.
Lists of lists already printed out.
Each room has a master declutter list AND a cleaning list.
From top to bottom, the motherfucker is going to SPARKLE for my birthday.
It is going to be glorious.
I will concede that perhaps there will be a few things I won’t be able to do, like shampoo the carpets or landscape the garden
or wash the roof, but I need to remember that my body has limitations now and it is only a week…
But I am so excited at the prospect I am positively vibing.
Stocked up on paper towels, chux superwipes, and my favourite cleaners and will probably bore everyone on Facebook shitless with my lists of TADA’s* each day as I get everything done and Instagram the shit out of my clean house.
And then, next Thursday, I will wake up to a house that will be clean from top to bottom with NOTHING TO DO.
Nothing except to be worshipped by my family.
Well that is the plan.
Do you get excited by a big clean up?
Does decluttering your house get you all giddy?
Am I really alone in this?
Would you take a week off work to do this as a gift to yourself?
*TADA’s are a list of things done instead of a TO DO list. Makes you feel a little better and accomplished. And a hellava lot more fun.
