The best presents are the unexpected ones.
The ones that someone has put a lot of thought and care into.
The ones where you can feel the love.
apparently his name is Archie. Archie AWESOME I reckon.
Boo made this for me at school. He fucking MADE IT.
Sewed that shit up and everything.
He was so damn proud of himself he couldn’t contain it and had to give it to me early.
The FACE! Slays me dead.
These are the sort of presents I adore.
Not just cause he made it (OMG CAN YOU BELIEVE IT THOUGH? HE FUCKING MADE THAT!?!?!) but because he thought of me as he made it.
I would equally love a 10 carat diamond from Tiffany and Co if the person purchasing it was there soley for the purpose of buying it for me.
We get so caught up in having to buy SOMETHING for someone that we forget about the person we are buying for. What they would actually like.
It is not about the money, it is about the intent.
That you saw something and knew instantly that would be perfect for so and so, or like I often do, spent weeks on a mad hunt for the perfect thing you have had in your minds eye. The one thing you KNOW will make someones day.
Something as simple as red frogs (thanks River) or elaborate as a hand sewn Christmas doll.
A gift card to their favourite store which seems so impersonal but what they really want, wrapped in an enormous box filled with packing beans (Merry Christmas Dad) shows that you put some damn effort in. Just to make them smile.
It is not about how much you spend, or even the hours you put in.
It is true what they say, it really is the thought that counts.
Just a little effort can just possibly make your gift the best present ever.
And isn’t THAT what it is all about?
