OK, this is a long one with a fucktonne of pictures.
Oh and swearing. Not a lot, just a light smattering, but if you have stumbled across post looking for reviews on Lite n Easy at least you know I am being honest. No company pays for swears.
Unless they are awesome.
Backstory is here if you are into it.
As we got the food delivered on Wednesday morning, we didn’t start till Thursday but we did have a dinner each – chicken parma – and it was really good. Sorry, forgot to take pictures but it was thoroughly enjoyed by all of us. Even the pickiest of eaters, Boo.
He didn’t eat the veggies though. Just like home cooked. Heh.
apricot yoghurt crumble, toasted fruit loaf with butter and kiwi fruit.
SO. Much. Food.
But I ate it all (except the kiwi) and I hate apricots!
Beef nachos with cheese and fresh salsa, kiwi fruit. Almonds and cinnamon oat bar.
Yum. Swapped the fresh salsa cause I don’t like fresh tomato with jar salsa but didn’t need it. Didn’t get to the almonds.
roast chicken breast with mushroom sauce, potatoes and veggies.
Omg what is with the fucking beans? I hate beans. But with a good dusting with some freshly cracked pepper and I chocked the fuckers down. Good thing I am used to undressed steamed veggies, I can imagine it would be hard for someone who is used to sauces and butter etc on their veggies.
MPS had the pepper steak and he said it was delicious. He did have a HUGE bowl of icecream afterwards cause he was still hungry, but he is used to having extra large portions of an evening.
Pros: yummy food that would have taken hours to prepare. Surprisingly large meals, dunno what the reviewers on the internet were smoking but obviously it gave them the munchies, I found it more than enough.
There is a long expiry date on the food so if I didn’t feel like it (was supposed to be 29C but ended up not reaching that) I could have left it in the fridge/freezer for a few weeks.
So much variety in just one day.
Cons: Two fucking kiwi fruits. Would have been better with some fruit variety.
The meat was called ‘mexican mix’ on the recipe but ‘tasty beef’ in the freezer. And I would have preferred it as a dinner option than lunch, but that is personal preference.
Order again? Hellz yeah. All of it.
Day two (which is really 3 cause we swapped the days around for convenience).
Nut cluster crunch (need to add your own skim milk), wholegrain and oat toast with honey, yogurt, peach cup.
Jesus Christ on a bike doing handstands that is a lot of food. I was surprised to find I enjoyed the oat toast with honey (no butter and only used about half of the honey) and then scarfed down the yogurt before taking Boo to school. I had a double shot skinny latte with my milk allowance. No time for the peaches and cereal.
Ate the peaches while on hold to some arsehole dickhead at work.
Roast chicken tender with avocado and salad in a wrap, orange, popcorn, choc cranberry trail mix
OMG. Soooo good. I left the tomato out and if I did have a complaint it would be too much rocket, more spinach.
After picking up Boo I ate half the orange and the trail mix and then ate the popcorn while watching a documentary about a family who walk on all fours on YouTube. Bawled like a baby at the end.
Did I mention I started my period? Looking forward to the bacon and eggs on the weekend that we swapped todays menu with.
We all had something different tonight. Mine is the Tortilla stack, Boo had the Shepherds pie (he enjoyed it but left the veggies) and MPS had the beef in black bean which he thought was good. But as he admits, he will eat anything so his opinion doesn’t count.
Me, I thought the tortilla stack was fucking awesome. I licked the plate clean.
MPS took the fancy picture before serving me while I laid on the fainting couch crafting this epic post.
Don’t tell him it is out of focus.
Pros: All the food was gooood. Lots of variety and everything was fresh.
Letting the bread defrost over night is a good move. Wake up to fresh bread.
Cons: Some days the breakfast is just too cumbersome if you are really busy. I just didn’t have time to cook and eat eggs, so I swapped with another day and STILL didn’t have time to prep and eat all the food. Maybe my mornings are just more crazy. Or perhaps I should get my fat lazy arse out of bed earlier.
Order again? ALL OF IT YES!
I was stoked to find a couple of baskets I had in the spare room – that Boo has coined ‘the second garage’- fit perfectly on the shelf. MPS and I have a basket each with the next days fridge foods in each, the rest of the food in plastic bags underneath so we don’t get confused and grab the wrong bag.
Then just add the next days bag, along with any freezer foods to defrost, the night before after bidding good night to that lonely pear cider up there in the right corner.
Dinners are all together, those that we have the same (and one for Boo) are on the top shelf, the individual ones in the drawer underneath.
We then have a drawer each with the frozen food for breakfasts and lunches because we have a few different days.
So far the system is working out, and Boo is leaving our food alone and sticking to his normal stuff. It is Friday night so no Lite n Easy tomorrow cause we are going out for lunch. Might have one of the dinners tomorrow night, might not.
I am loving the shit outta this so far. Will keep you posted.
