I used to be SO into Twitter.
Twitter was my playground. My down time. My fun place.
Jump on in the evenings and joke around with people all over the world, especially the drunk and insomniacs over the other side of the rock.
Sometimes having so many people in the one conversation there was barely room for a LOL in your reply.
Those were the days.
And then twitter turned into people exclaiming things so they would be recognised by tv shows or RT’ed by a celebrity and conversations got lost.
And the self promotion! Instagram and facebook page feeds and pinterest pins and blog post notifications… all of which I am totally guilty of but I like to think that it is a small part of my social media interaction.
But it isn’t.
I am bored.
There is no room for interaction. People are bleating out hoping to be heard, or worse still surreptitiously spruiking others wares in my temple of fun.
So I moved over to facebook.
Which is basically more of the same, but with inspirational quotes and advertisements for weight loss products and baby items and chicks updating their profile pic to the same over processed picture in the hope that someone will call her pretty.
I am so over it.
Bring back the good old days where people posted silly shit on twitter and awesome well constructed blog posts.
Where we had a conversation in the comments or a link to our own long winded reply on our own site.
Back when the only cash that was generated was sidebar ads and the content was not for sale.
But that shit is a whole ‘nother blog post for another day.
I am not quitting social media. Dropping my mic and exiting left. No, not at all.
I am just an old man sitting on his veranda and yelling at the kids to get off his motherfucking lawn, and lamenting the good ol’ days before the masses found our cool club and turned it into a fucking shopping mall.
