{conversation with Boo aged 3. Welcome to the world of Hyperlexia}
After a hellish drive through fog and fuckers we eventually arrived at school.
We did the usual dance getting out of the car

WAIT WAIT WAIT
Now you can get out mummy.
As we wandered down the path and I skipped around him fixing his shirt and pulling UP his pants and DOWN his jacket and adjusting his bag, we saw one of the male aides approaching the flagpole.
He hooked up the flag and was pulling the rope to send it flapping in the air – just like 9 of the 10 kids disembarking the bus at that very moment – and called out a greeting to Boo.
Just like every day.
And just like every day, Boo dropped his head, looked to the side and said ‘Hi John’
We parted ways at the gate, like every day. Me to sign him in at the office, him to walk independently to his classroom.
With John following discretely behind.
And, like every day since the first day, I told him good bye and that I loved him.
And, UNLIKE every day since the first day instead of a grunt or a ‘I know’ he dipped his head and looked to the side and said:
I Love You Too, Mummy.
And I cried the entire way home.

Ahem. I might just have something in my eye. A HUGE something that also seems to be making a lump in my throat.
Sob.
Yeah, there’s a lot of dust in the air here at the moment…making my eyes water. That’s what it is, dust!
*sniffle*
WOW……
WELL, I GUESS SO! I got teary-eyed just reading it!
Beautiful.
xx
Best present in the entire world. No question. x
Best. Day. Ever. xx
Just what you needed to hear, right when you needed to hear it, I bet. I was confused when I saw Boo’s handwriting at age 3 in your image (my 4.5 yo can’t write that well!) and clicked through to learn about hyperlexia. Amazing. Brains and bodies are amazing.
Okay, my heart just went thunk.
Now I’m crying too
Beautiful stuff
x
Nawww beautiful hon!! <3

AWWWWWWWWWWWWTISM.

A day you will never forget! Ever…It’s the small things that are really the big things sometimes don’t you think? xx
Before I was a mum, I severely underestimated the small things that kids do like this. Poicking a flower for you. the way they snuggle into you when they’re tired.
What a gorgeous moment for you. Soak it up.
Sob ….. three little words can mean so very much. XX
Tears. Love. Love to you all xxxx
Stop making me fucking cry. xxx

Did you get my text with the picture of what he wrote at school? That he wants to come and visit you and Da Boyfriend during the holidays?
OH MAH GAH WHO IS THIS PERSON AND WHAT DID HE DO WITH BOO?!?!?! And can he stay? And more importantly can he do dishes and wipe his own damn arse?

Oh Kelley, so happy for you! Do you think he knows how much it meant to you?
That is just….perfect.

Oh, makes me so teary. What a wonderful way to start the day.
That moment, for Boo and you … wonderful! Hx
A few tears here too Kelley. It’s a wonder you were able to drive after something like that. What a magic moment!
Wow how wonderful!! Something lovely for me to read tonight….but in another way so very interesting….Hyperlexia, that was me….will have to tell my mother there is a name for it, it all fits totally from the reading right through to the verbal communication and social skills…thank you for teaching me something tonight
Shit. Me, too.
:: bursts into tears ::
Your beautiful beautiful boy.
It’s moments like these that get you through the tough times isn’t it?
Yep that would make me sob like a baby xx
and I just burst into tears.
For all the funny and the swearing and the hilarity and stuff that I love about you, your love for your kids is what really keeps me coming back. So great.
