So last night I was innocently surfing for porn homemaking ideas when I flicked over to Twitter and saw it was going in-fucking-sane.
I stayed up late hitting refresh refresh refresh and flicking channels.
This morning speculation was rife. Will we have a female Prime Minister by the end of the day?
Will we become a Ranga State?
And now it is confirmed.
Julia Gillard is our Prime Minister and Kevin Rudd is out.
I know this is not a political blog {shut the fuck up, it COULD BE} but I just want to say that Kevin’s speech was amazing and gracious and heartfelt and REAL and made me cry.
Well done Kev. Well done.

I didn’t catch any of his speech but I heard it was really good. I’m really suprised that this chick is your new PM. I’m a little wary based on the little I’ve heard her say recently, but whatever…she’s not my PM. We got John Key instead.

Yeah, Rangas are going to take over the World now. I already have started in my hometown. Today, at the Supermarket, I totally pushed into line and when the person complained I just looked at her and pointed to my head. She got the idea.

I watched Rudd’s speech this morning and got sad. Poor guy. He’s stuffed up, but they’re politicians – they are ALL going to make some bungles along the way. Unfortunately they’re all as bad as each other.

I have very mixed feelings. Sad for Kev. Indifferent to Julia. Proud that Australia has a female PM but seriously fucked off at the manner in which it all went down. Somehow I think the whole female PM thing will be very shortlived. Chances are we’re going from a perfectly coiffed bogan ranga to a hairy budgie-smuggler wearer who believes all women should abstain from sex til after marriage – like me! (wink)
Abbott scares the living fuck outta me. The man is a loose cannon. And all that ‘no sex before marriage unless you are me and try and hide the fact that I fathered a child and convinced the mother to give it up for adoption’ shit really pisses me off.
Kev gave a great,heartfelt speech.Gulp.Pity he didn’t express himself as eloquently in recent times.I think Julia will be more inclusive.Like Amanda,Abbott scares me shitless.

I have a lot of time for Julia, and while I liked Kevin, I really think if he’d shown the level of emotion he showed today while he was PM, he’d still be PM.
(So, seeing as the ranga is back in fashion…should I skip the blonde highlights and doubl up on the red???)
I know, the speech made me sad. And for the first time ever I agreed with Tony Abbott. He shouldn’t have been treated this way by his own party.

I liked Kevin and if Julia continues to be competent, I’ll be happy with her too. Not happy at the factional stuff and media persecution that led to Julia’s elevation, though. ‘People Skills’ scares me to death too. Just a touch of Torquemada about him, isn’t there — he’d do the most terrible things from the noblest of motives.
