Today in Australia it is a public holiday.
Lest we forget.
A Friday. A long weekend. The last chance before Winter sets in to get away for a 3 day weekend.
Lest we forget.
We live in a town on a main highway. The highway that takes the city slickers to the vacation playgrounds of sea, mountain and bush. And they are out in huge numbers, towing their caravans and stopping to pick up supplies and a quick bout of surgery to remove the kidney to pay for the fuel. Smiling and laughing at the luck of another beautiful day.
Lest we forget.
All day I have heard the Last Post. I never fails to make me stop, take stock and fill my eyes with tears.
Lest we forget.
Take a moment today to think of the Diggers. What our boys have done in the past and continue to do. Those no longer with us and those in active service. The husbands, wives, children, siblings, parents and mates.
Just remember.
Lest we forget.
Dedicated to both my grandfathers and my brother aka The Golden Child.

Lest We Forget..
We will remember them…
Lest we forget.
Much unrelated to actual post: your comment over at The Bloggess had me laughing, and now that I have read you I think I have become addicted. Any stalkers from Portugal, that wil be me! *waves madly*
I have just googled the Diggers, hats off then. It seems fitting for me to be paying tribute to them on the day we celebrate having been freed from our dictator without a single drop of blood in 1974. I didn’t know before, but from now on I too will remember.
yes, we will remember them. How can we ever forget.
They are remembered and loved.
Lest we forget. God bless Australia, as they did.
Definitely in our thoughts.
As well as the sadness of the losses there is also great pride that so many people were willing to defend their country. May the ANZAC spirit live on with all of us.
Thanks my lovelies for commenting and remembering our fallen heroes, as well as those still fighting for us.
And welcome Lioness!
Amen.
I like ANZAC Day. I also liked Thanksgiving in the US. A real family holiday with a purpose.
